 Work History

Job Title: IRIS Consultant

Care Responsibilities:  I have been in several roles throughout the years that include supporting individuals with disabilities. I worked in the school settings where I was both a special education teacher and second grade classroom teacher for several years. In my role as special education teacher, I was responsible for developing and implementing IEPS for students. I was in charge of monitoring and assessing student learning, leading IEP meetings, frequently engaging and communicating with families, preparing lessons, as well as adapting regular education lessons to meet student needs. As a second grade teacher, I performed the responsibilities of a classroom teacher. In addition, throughout college and the beginning of my career, I have worked as a part time caregiver for two young adults with disabilities who live independently and have also done respite for kids with disabilities. My love for working with individuals with disabilities started early as I started teaching swim lessons to individuals with disabilities when I was in high school.

 Specialties

I strongly believe in the importance of working as a team to make sure that individuals have a plan in place that makes them feel valued, supported, happy, respected and fulfilled. I have a lot of experience working with kids and teens with disabilities and have a great amount of knowledge about the school system and IEP process. While I have a lot of experience working with individuals with varying needs (e.g. physically, behaviorally, cognitively), I also have a lot of experience working with individuals with autism.
