More about me
I have a deep passion and desire to advocate and provide effective services to individuals who are in need of assistance. I truly love my job and count myself fortunate to be able to work with such amazing people every day.
My interest in this field began with a desire to help individuals with developmental disabilities. My uncle has a developmental disability and growing up it stirred a passion in me to pursue a helping profession of some kind. I feel that my experience of having a close family member with a developmental disability has given me a unique perspective in this career.
I obtained my bachelor’s degree from UW-Madison in Rehabilitation Psychology and continued on to complete my Master’s Degree as well. Throughout my college career I worked in a residential setting providing hands-on personal care to individuals with developmental disabilities. I believe my work during this time was invaluable as it gave me insight into that role and allows me to better understand and work with members of a client’s team who are providing that service.
In addition to this role, I also served as an intern with both the Veteran’s hospital and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. My time at the VA was focused on serving those with mental health needs where my time at DVR was spent working with individuals who were overcoming barriers to employment.
I am currently certified as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and keep up my certification by completing 100 hours of continuing education every 5 years with 10 hours in ethics and boundaries training. I truly love the work I do and the clients and families that I get to work with. I cannot imagine a better job for my skill set, experiences and passions in life. I strive to help people identify their hopes and passions, overcome their obstacles and empower others to reach a full and satisfying life.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my husband and three beagle pups Wrigley, Bella and Grace. I love visiting my 2 nephews in Colorado when I can and enjoy action movies, running, I Love Lucy reruns and rooting on my Chicago Cubs!
