More about me
I am passionate about working with individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities, as well as older adults. Additionally, I believe self-direction and person-centered planning are extremely important when working with participants. I enjoy working collaboratively in order to best meet each person’s unique goals, while also promoting and respecting their independence. My passion for self-direction stems from my education in social work. I strongly believe that every individual best knows their own needs. Therefore, my role as an IRIS Consultant is to respect a participant’s self-directed goals and to assist them in achieving those goals; so they may live a well-rounded and fulfilling life.
For several years I worked for Easter Seals Wisconsin, doing administrative and customer services work for Camp Wawbeek and Respite Camp. While earning my master’s degree I interned at Joining Forces for Families and Kids Forward. While interning at Joining Forces for Families I did voluntary case management for families with a low socio-economic status. At Kids Forward I worked with communities, policy makers, and other professionals in order to advocate for racial equity in the state of Wisconsin. Additionally, my education in social work has provided me with an in-depth knowledge of the many resources and services available to individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities in Dane County.
I grew up in Maryland, right outside of D.C., but have lived in Madison for 5 years now. My favorite things about Madison/Dane County are the people (everybody is so nice), the food (I love cheese!), and the beautiful lakes. In my free time I enjoy walking my dog, Zahra, hanging out with friends and family, swimming, and spending time outdoors anytime it is warm and sunny!
